Geothermal baseload, dispatched by AI
Modular units sized for industrial sites. We tap shut-in wells still hot below, then route clean power where the grid needs it.
Renewables fill the peaks. Nobody fills the floor.
Solar peaks at noon. Wind depends on weather. Storage adds cost without changing the underlying physics. Industrial sites running continuous-process operations need power that does not follow the sun. Geothermal is the only renewable that provides it.
Three layers. One continuous power stream.
From subsurface heat to dispatched electrons, Critical Energy handles the full stack for industrial sites that need reliable clean power.
Subsurface Access
We identify and retrofit existing shut-in wells in high-temperature formations. Our closed-loop extraction system requires no water injection and leaves the formation intact.
Modular Thermal Conversion
Above-ground skid units convert extracted thermal energy to electricity and process heat. Modular design means units can be staged as load demand grows.
AI Grid Dispatch
Our dispatch engine reads ISO price signals in real time and routes power to where it is most valuable: onto the grid, into the site, or into thermal storage buffers.
Design targets grounded in geophysics
Response time to ISO market price signal changes
Consistent heat delivery across variable electrical load
Surface area vs conventional utility-scale geothermal plant
CO2 avoided per MWh compared to diesel or natural gas baseload
All figures based on design specification and early-pilot modeling. Field validation ongoing.
Built for industrial buyers, not utilities.
Manufacturing and Process Industry
Continuous-process facilities with high baseload demand, process heat requirements, and limited tolerance for power interruption. Our modular units integrate with existing substation infrastructure.
Data Center Operators
Facilities in the Western US with sustainability mandates and the footprint for above-ground skid equipment. Geothermal provides the 24-hour clean power profile that solar and wind cannot.
Mining Operations
Remote sites in geothermal-active zones where grid access is expensive or unavailable. Our system turns the site's own geology into a power source.
We focus initial deployments in the Basin and Range province: Nevada, Utah, Idaho, and eastern Oregon. Formation temperatures above 150C at accessible depths make these regions the most commercially viable for modular EGS.
What industrial partners are telling us
"The dispatch latency numbers matter more than we anticipated. When a production line ramps up, we need power response in seconds, not minutes. The architecture here is different from anything we evaluated."
"We have been evaluating baseload options for two years. Every renewable proposal came with storage assumptions that broke the economics. Geothermal without storage is a different conversation entirely."
Industrial sites within the Basin and Range are where we start.
